Lisa Bella Donna - Pilgrimage
by Tom Ojendyk
Prolific and talented synthesist Lisa Bella Donna composed Pilgrimage with conceptional help from her daughter as a response to the pandemic. Using synthesizers, sequencers, organs, and various other equipment, the three long, cosmic, instrumental tracks bear some similarities to classic Berlin-school musicians such as Klaus Schulze and Adelbert Von Deyen or some of the 70s French practitioners such as Zanov or Didier Bocquet but still feels very current. She uses cascading and slow building melodies that make the music meditative but without any of the usual new age trappings. An impressive record.
