Motor City musician Steve Swartz [AKA Swartz] has crafted a beautiful ambient album with dashes of Tim Hecker, Tangerine Dream, and Stars of the Lid for his fourth release, Light Leaks. Mostly known for his guitar work, he’s apparently very adept with modular synths as well, as overall, Light Leaks shows off Swartz’s mastery with its hopeful, optimistic sonic palette. There’s always some very close, utterly transient emotion that’s just out of reach, something we want what we can never have. As long as Light Leaks is playing, there’s still a chance, there’s still hope.
